In the Grand Scale of Things

In a moment of self contemplation, you may wonder like I do, “What’s in My Stars?” When I feel challenged with life’s trials and I have no clear answers, I head out for a  walk  into the dusky evening to gain perspective.

Skywalkcellphone 2-8-15I take comfort from the eminent night sky and the wisdom of those who have walked before us.

“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.” ~Harriet Tubman

“It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves.” ~ William Shakespeare

On a clear night, away from the city lights,  the stars are beautiful on an overwhelmingly grand scale.  I understand that I am one dot, one being on Earth in a vast Universe.

In an odd way, the vast twinkling starry night gives me a comforting perspective of how fleeting the problems are in terms of “all that is.”    I understand that the challenges will come and go, lessons learned in some way.  In the long run, there is a bigger better path to walk.

We are all dots on this Earth, and are really in this together. Find your best self and best path to walk.  You will be in positive service to yourself, others and the precious planet that we inhabit.  It all starts with one.

Tip on Green Building Lighting Intent:
“To increase night sky access, improve nighttime visibility, and reduce the consequences of development for wildlife and people.  Reduce light pollution that can block our view of the night sky and cause human health problems as well as ecological problems for many birds, insects, and other animals.” ~ LEED NC
Some organizations, like Flagstaff Dark Skies and Northern Arizona, U.S. have lighting codes to protect the desert night sky view.  Check your own local city codes for local information.  To protect the starry night view, select light fixtures, timing and placement to reduce light pollution, direct light downward. lighting- Image source Canadian Space Agency
